Rune Gjeldnes,
Polar Explorer and ex-Navy Seal
In 2006 he crossed Antarctica alone and without re-supplies. The longest skitrip
ever, with it’s 4804 km in 90 days.
In 2000, he became together with Torry Larsen, the first and only who have crossed
the Arctic Ocean, from the Siberia via the North Pole to Canada, without re-supplies
during 109 days.
In 1996, he became together with Torry Larsen, the first and only who have crossed
Greenland lengthways, from the Southern tip to the Northern tip without re-supplies.
This makes him to the first person to have crossed both Poles without re-supplies,
and also the three biggest ice areas on Earth.
In 2005 he was the leader of the Amundsen Team in the film reconstruction of Amundsen
and Scott race for the South Pole. The 6 hours programs have been shown on BBC,
History Channel and others. The history repeated it’s self.
He is an author with his own publishing company, and in total participated in seven
expedition books. The last one; “Beyond the Poles”. Also works as a photographer
and film photographer, and has participated in 11 film productions from his adventure
life.
